Tune Maari Entriyaan Choreo
This week’s Bollywood Dance routine at Pineapple Dance Studios was set to (another!) song from the hit film “Gunday” called ‘Tune Maari Entriyaan’.
In this routine we focussed on South Indian Dance techniques that are more traditional and ‘folky’ as opposed to ‘filmy’. To nail this style you need: heavy feet, strong arms, stiff limbs and lots of expression throughout!
This dance style (and song style) has become increasingly popular in Bollywood with songs like 1,2,3,4 from Chennai Express, Dhating Nach from Phata Poster Nikhla Hero and Gandi Baat from R. Rajkumar all hitting our screens and airwaves in 2013. The trend looks set to continue into 2014 with songs like ‘Tune Mari Entriyaan’ and it’s infectious rhythm. In a nutshell, the song talks about the following: ‘when the girl enters his heart, he hears bells ringing’ — very romantic indeed. This feeling is heightened by the storytelling, almost cartoon type moves and the ‘TUNG’ sound that is repeated in the song lyrics a.k.a the bells! Whether or not this song is your cup of tea, it certainly got everyone moving to the beat whilst giving them a sweaty workout at the same time! Excited for next week’s class already! Nileeka xx
